Lampman, Wood fourth at 1A girls’ tennis regional
The Webster City doubles team of Courtney Lampman and Rihanna Wood went 2-2 and placed fourth at a Class 1A girls’ regional tennis tournament yesterday in Waterloo.
The tandem won a pair of matches in straight sets to reach the semifinals. Top-seeded Lauren McManus and Taylor Hogan of Waterloo Columbus sent the Lynx pair into the consolation match.
Lampman and Wood took the first set from Dubuque Wahlert’s Abby McDonald and Cindy Stierman, 7-5, but lost the second set, 6-0, and tiebreaker, 10-5.
“They played really well and they’re excited to come back next year,” WCHS head coach Erica Munkel said. “It was great to watch them.”
The other WCHS doubles team of Jayden Mathis and Megan Parkhill were bounced from the tournament in the first round, as were singles players Sierra Anderson and Emma Vansickel.
