Arbaugh scores hat trick, Lynx girls blank Boone

WEBSTER CITY – The emergence of Jenna Arbaugh as a scoring threat continued to blossom on the pitch at Lynx Field Thursday night, as she helped propel the Webster City girls’ soccer team to a second consecutive victory.

Arbaugh’s first career hat trick was more than enough to carry the Lynx to a 4-0 shutout of Boone.

A senior defensive player for most of her career, Arbaugh made the move to a forward position at midseason; she’s scored five goals in the last two matches.

WCHS (7-6) opened up a 2-0 halftime lead and then tacked on the final two goals over the last 40 minutes.

Arbaugh put WCHS ahead to stay in the sixth minute off an assist from Kennedy Daniels. The score remained 1-0 until Sarah Vogelbacher rifled in an unassisted goal in the 36th minute.

Vogelbacher picked up an assist on Arbaugh’s second goal of the match, which gave WCHS a 3-0 advantage with just under 12 minutes remaining in the match. Arbaugh finished off the hat trick a little more than four minutes later.

Back up above .500 on the season, WCHS will close out the regular season at home against Clear Lake on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
