Hawks even record at 8-8 with wins over CMB, South Hardin

BAXTER – A balanced offense enabled the South Hamilton boys’ basketball team to start hot and never let up in a 74-49 rocking of Heart of Iowa Conference rival CMB here Friday night.

The Hawks (7-8, 6-6 HOIC) were able to avenge a 59-57 loss to the Raiders (2-14, 2-11) on Dec. 15 by putting four players in double figures. They rolled to a 20-10 lead after one quarter and were up by 18 at the half, 40-22.

“We had a very good all around team win,” South Hamilton head coach Nathan Hill said. “As a coach you love to see that balance and unselfishness out of your team.”

Collin Hill led the way with 17 points, eight rebounds and three steals. Littler brother Conner Hill netted 12 points to go along with seven assists. Marco Balderas drained three 3-point baskets on his way to 11 points and Trey Woodall buried two shots from the field and all five of his free throws for 10 points.
