Pins carry Hawks to a pair of HOIC dual wins
ALLEMAN – Short on numbers, the South Hamilton wrestling team looked to bonus points to carry it to success in a Heart of Iowa Conference triangular here last night.
With just nine grapplers in the lineup, the Hawks won nine matches – eight by fall and a major decision – and slid by North Polk, 34-30, and CMB, 36-30.
Charlie Reiter (138 pounds), Brian Greenfield (145), Brian Carroll (152), Luke Peters (160) and Noah Lutter (170) all went 2-0 for South Hamilton. Keaton Hetland (126/132) and Rylan Harris (220/285) both went 1-1.
Reiter and Carroll both notched a pair of pins. They were part of a five-match surge, all by fall, that pushed the team out to a quick 36-0 lead on CMB.
Greenfield dominated North Polk’s Cody Meiners for an 11-1 major decision victory. He stuck CMB’s Lincoln Brown in 4:27 in his nightcap.
Peters and Lutter both won by fall and forfeit. Peters, ranked No. 8 (Class 1A) at 152, needed just 1:04 to deck CMB’s Ethan Cozad.
South Hamilton will be in Story City on Saturday for the Jim Kinyon Norsemen Invite.
