Lynx earn 13 all-district nods from coaches

WEBSTER CITY – Webster City’s undefeated regular season and the first district championship in 21 years carried a lot of weight when it was time to hand out postseason awards in Class 3A District 2.

The Lynx garnered nine spots on the all-district team, while four more players were named honorable mention.

Named to the all-district team on offense were sophomore offensive guard Cooper Lawson, senior tailback Gavin Dinsdale, senior spinback Avery Fuhs, junior wingback Payton Kannuan and senior wide receiver Alec Fuhs. Honored on the defensive side of the ball were senior linebacker Victor Jergens, senior cornerback Landon Daniels, and senior safeties Jordan Moen and Sean Vogelbacher.

Daniels, Dinsdale and Jergens were also named to the 3A all-state first team by the Iowa Newspaper Association. Lawson was a second-team choice.

Placed on the district’s honorable mention list for the Lynx were senior center Dalton Draeger, junior offensive guard Ashton High, and senior linebackers Ryan Ferrari and Collin Oswald.

Kannuan (1,254 yards, 11 TD’s) and Avery Fuhs (815 yards, 5 TD’s) ranked second and third behind Dinsdale in yards rushing. Avery Fuhs also passed for 870 yards and 12 scores.

Alec Fuhs (568 yards, 10 TD’s) was the team’s top receiver.

Vogelbacher and Moen were key cogs on the district’s best secondary.
