USMTS takes over Hamilton County Speedway tonight

WEBSTER CITY – The Hamilton County Speedway will host the USMTS speed merchants this evening.

The historic half-mile dirt track will be the first stop in a five-race, three-state Labor Day swing for the USMTS 2015 Hunt for the Casey’s Cup National Championship Series.

The modified drivers were on the road throughout August. Starting in Kansas, they’ve already competed in five different states.

Rodney Sanders of Happy, Texas, currently leads the series with Jason Hughes out of Watts, Oklahoma, in second. Holding on to third place is Iowa native Jesse Sobbing; Stormy Scott out of New Mexico is fourth, and Zach Vander Beek of New Sharon resides in fifth.

Sanders is gunning for his third straight USMTS national championship. He stands to pocket a $100,000 payday if he can pull it off.

Cory Crapser of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, and his No. 07 Oreos/Sour Patch Kids modified will be at the Second Street Casey’s store in Webster City from 12-2 p.m. today to meet the fans.

Cade Dillard of Robeline, Louisiana and his No. 97 Snickers modified will be at the Superior Street Casey’s during the same time period today.

Race fans can also expect to see Hamilton County Speedway regulars on the track this evening.

The night will also include the Iron Man Challenge featuring USRA stock cars, and USRA B-mods will compete in the evening’s race program as well.

Gates will open at 5 p.m. Hot laps will begin at 7 p.m., and racing is scheduled to start at 7:15 p.m.

General admission tickers cost $18, while kids 6-12 are $10 and children 5 and under get in for free. Pit passes will go for $35.

Race fans can pick up coupons good for $2 off adult admission at area Casey’s General Stores.
