Firecracker 5K brings out 196 competitors

WEBSTER CITY – Feysel Rahmeto of Omaha, Neb., and Sam Larson of Humboldt claimed the overall male and female titles during Saturday’s annual Firecracker 5K, which featured 196 runners.

Rahmeto raced through the streets and finished in 16 minutes, 25 seconds to win the overall title by 19 seconds over runner-up Brendan Camplin (16:44) of Kansas City, Mo.

Larson was the only female to break 20 minutes; she crossed the finish line in 19:33 to easily outdistance silver medalist Abby Landwehr (20:58) of Fort Dodge.

The female age division winners included Sophie Vanderpool of Webster City (11 and under, 22:36), Landwehr (12-14), MeKenzie Alberts of Clarion (15-19, 21:26), Morgan Moline of Webster City (20-29, 22:38), Heidi Tesdahl of Webster City (30-39, 22:37), Sharon Landwehr of Fort Dodge (40-49, 22:28), Kelley Smith of Humboldt (50-59, 26:08), and Cynthia Fallon of Webster City (60-69, 34:25).

The male age division winners were Isaac Landwehr of Fort Dodge (11 and under, 23:52), Tucker Judkins of Webster City (12-14, 20:44), Nick Meyers of Monticello (15-19, 17:46), Camplin (20-29), TJ Craig of Iowa City (30-39, 17:38), Lance Bergeson of Ankeny (40-49, 18:20), Tony Janssen of Webster City (50-59, 22:45), Larry Beekman of Fort Dodge (60-69, 35:42), and Arlo Van Diest of Webster City (70 and up, 30:37).
