Trojans get aggressive at the plate, thump Tripoli for first win of season

TRIPOLI – With a game plan of attacking at the plate, the Northeast Hamilton baseball team got its offense rolling and secured its first win of the season here on Monday.

The Trojans ran Tripoli starting pitcher Ryan Goodenbour off the mound in the first inning and smacked nine hits in an 11-3 rout of the Panthers.

“We were really aggressive up at the plate and that was good to see,” NEH head coach Chace Pruismann said. “It’s great to go up there and get a win, especially on a long road trip like that.”

NEH (1-2, 1-2 ISC) plated four runs in the first and four more in the seventh to pull away.

Nate Rapp and Kyle Pruismann found the gap and laced doubles, and both drove in two runs in the win. Kyler Rapp lashed three singles and collected one RBI.

Nick Jeffers and Garrett Grady both plated two runs as well.

The offense was a welcome sight for eighth-grade pitcher Nate Rapp, who earned his first varsity win. His complete-game gem included nine strikeouts and three walks. He gave up eight hits, but only allowed two earned runs.

“Nate threw lights out again,” Chace Pruismann said.

NEH will head back out on the road this evening when it travels to Garwin to take on GMG at 5 p.m.

The Trojans will return home on Thursday to host fellow ISC?rival Janesville. The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m.
