Trojans blow big lead, fall to ISC rival Red Raiders
DUNKERTON – A nightmare bottom of the seventh inning that featured two walks, an error, a balk and a wild pitch sent Northeast Hamilton home frustrated following another Iowa Star Conference baseball loss here on Friday.
Trailing 9-5 entering its final at bat, Dunkerton used the Trojans’ hiccups and a pair of hits to plate five runs and rally for the 10-9 victory.
NEH (2-9, 2-9 ISC) led 9-2 after 51?2 innings.
Eighth-grade pitcher Nate Rapp gave another solid effort. His 112-pitch performance included eight strikeouts against just two walks; he allowed eight hits and six earned runs.
NEH also smacked eight hits. Nick Jeffers went 2-for-3 with a double, home run and four RBI. He blasted a two-run shot in the sixth inning.
Bryce Van Langen added a pair of singles and a RBI. Rapp, Andy Pate, Kyle Pruismann and Garrett Grady all had one hit.
Kyle Pruismann plated two runs, while Kyler Rapp collected one RBI.
