New faces help Lynx girls take down Bulldogs
HAMPTON – Playing without varsity regulars Courtney Lampman and Olivia Tasler, the Webster City girls’ tennis team called upon several new faces to have an impact against Hampton-Dumont here on Tuesday.
Consider it done.
The new doubles team of Megan Carpenter and Erin Larson picked up a victory to help WCHS double up the Bulldogs, 6-3.
“We had three (junior varsity) players step up to varsity and they all did a fantastic job,” WCHS head coach Erica Munkel said.
The dual started with doubles, which WCHS swept 3-0. The No. 1 tandem of Lynne Chalfant and Rihanna Wood won in a rout, 8-0, and Sierra Anderson and Olinca Padierna were up 3-0 when Hampton-Dumont’s Bella Siens and Gabbie Piekle retired.
Chalfant (8-4), Wood (8-5) and Anderson (8-6) were all singles winners.
