Meskwaki girls race out to lead early, down Trojets

Warriors’ Moore scores 10 of her 20 points in first quarter, Chamness notches 11 for NEH

The Daily Freeman Journal

TAMA - Deah Moore was simply more than Northeast Hamilton could handle in an Iowa Star Conference girls' basketball battle here Monday evening.

Meskwaki Settlement's powerful post player piled up 10 of her game-high 20 points in the first quarter and the Warriors were never threatened in a 51-23 rout.

Meskwaki Settlement (8-10, 5-9 ISC) opened up an 18-5 advantage after one quarter. NEH (0-15, 0-13 ISC) traded buckets in the second quarter, but a 16-0 third-quarter run by the Warriors put the game out of reach.

Moore was joined in double figures by teammate Kadyn Clark, who finished with 10 points. Jaden Davenport chipped in eight.

Lillian Chamness had her best offensive game of the season for the Trojets. She drained the team's only two 3-point baskets and threw in 11 points. Kaylee Massman and Leah Meyer both finished with four points.

NEH will play four more road games over the next week. The Trojets will be at Southeast Webster-Grand on Thursday, at seventh-ranked (Class 1A) Dunkerton on Friday, at Tripoli on Saturday and at Waterloo Christian next Monday.
