Renee DeWitt, age 46, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Monday, December 2, 2013 at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, Iowa. Following the funeral and luncheon, burial will take place at Ames Municipal Cemetery in Ames. Visitation is Sunday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. A memorial fund has been established; gifts may be sent to Randy DeWitt at 2884 Saratoga Ave. in Jewell, Iowa 50130. Becker Funeral Home in Jewell is caring for Renee and her family.
Renee Lee Harris was born June 6, 1967 in Ames to Jerry and Carol (Shaw) Harris. She grew up in the Ames area, graduating from Gilbert High School. On October 18, 1985 Renee married Randy Joseph DeWitt in Ames and was happily married for 28 years. She graduated from Kaplan University with a Master's Degree in criminal justice. She worked for Louis Rich, Webster City Products, and owned and operated a restaurant in Ellsworth for ten years. She worked very hard for everything she and Randy have and always went out of her way to help everyone she could. Renee enjoyed concerts, races, shopping, Skyleigh's activities, and any activities with her husband and or friends. She loved spending time with her family, especially time with her granddaughter. She loved and supported Nick's cage fighting career and never missed an event. Renee enjoyed collecting treasures and loved animals.
Renee is survived by her husband, Randy of Jewell; children, Nicholas of Ellsworth and Ashley (Nick Hansen and daughter Cyerra) of Jewell; granddaughter, Skyleigh; brothers, Eric Harris of Ames and Ryan (Charlene) Harris of Ellsworth; and her mother, Carol Harris of Ames. She was preceded in death by her father in 2005, and grandparents, Betty and Floyd Harris and Wilbur and Lois Shaw.
