Helen Joann Calumet, age 87, of Apache Junction, Arizona, died July 18, 2013 at the Hospice of the Valley, Arbor Rose Palliative Care Unit in Mesa, Arizona. She was born in Creston, Iowa on June 23, 1926 and moved to Webster City, Iowa with her parents, Arthur and Nora Williams. She received her B.A. and Masters Degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois with a focus in Opera. She was a professor in music at the College of St. Theresa in Winona, Minnesota. She later taught music in the elementary community schools in Webster City, Iowa.
She married Thomas A. Calumet of Chicago and they were later divorced. Surviving are her son Anthony Calumet (Karla)of Washington and a daughter Colleen Fullerton (Keith), of Arizona; a son Tom (who preceded her in death) and a daughter Theresa (who preceded her in death; a granddaughter, Angelina Calumet and two great grandchildren, Adriana and Jovani of North Carolina; a step-granddaughter Kristyn Pritchett (Luc) of California, and step great granddaughter Stella Mary Prichett and a step grandson, William Dixon of Washington; a brother, Darwin Williams, of Webster City, IA, nephews Tom Williams(Christine), of St. Louis, MO., Pat Williams (Debbie), of Washington D.C., and Ted Williams(Linda) of Webster City, Iowa and many great nieces and nephews.
Mass and burial will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at a later date in Webster City, Iowa. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Valley, Mesa, Arizona.
