Quilt block winners named

Queen wins top raffle prize

The Hamilton County 4-H Foundation has announced the winners of the 2013 Hamilton County 4-H Foundation Quilt Block contest. Adult Viewer's Choice winners are:

Colleen Luiken, Webster City, "Straw Hat," first place; Verna Bierle, Webster City, "Smiley Daisy," second place; Colleen Luiken, Webster City, "Windblown Tuilips," third place.

The Youth Viewer's Choice winner was "Smiley Daisy" by Verna Bierle of Webster City.

Fifty-four blocks were made this year. The quilt blocks will be quilted together and raffled off at next years fair.

The quilt raffle winner this year was Erin Anderson. Also raffled off were a gold table center square won by Cindy McCollough, a green table center square won by Barb Wollan and a table octagon won by Patsy Just.

An auction also took place with Dalene Schlitter winning a basket, Dave Entriken taking home a bag, Joel Peterson picking up a small runner, Gayle Odland won a small basket, Nichole Chamness took home a table cloth and Kathy Anderson won a pillow.

The Gingerbread House sponsored the Quilt Block contest. The business also provided gift certificates for the Adults Viewer's Choice division. Bertha Shaw quilted all of the blocks together.
