JEWELL - The city of Jewell will welcome visitors from all over the county and the state of Iowa this weekend as the annual Jewell Jubilee returns Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Friday night will begin with a Main Street Barbecue from 5 to 8 p.m. City officials said Jewell's main street will be blocked off and picnic tables will be set up in the parking areas.
Officials are asking that all cars be removed from the area between Edwards and King Streets by 2 p.m. so tables can be set up.
Volunteers in Jewell are getting ready to serve up the annual Main Street Barbecue Friday night on the town’s Main Street. The street will be blocked off and picnic tables will be set up.
Those attending the barbecue will have a choice this year of turkey, pork or beef sandwiches, potato salad, baked beans, coleslaw and a drink.
Organizers said the prices are the same as last year for the all-you-can-eat menu: Adults - $7; children ages 6 to 12 - $3 and kids under age 6 are free.
There will be no drive-through service available this year.
Due to the number of people who will be attending, organizers ask those who can to bring their own chairs. Additionally, if you use the picnic tables provided, vacate the tables once you are finished eating so that others may be seated.
The Boy Scouts will be serving the pop and collecting the empty cans.
The rain location for the barbecue will be the South Hamilton Elementary School cafeteria.
Entertainment will be provided throughout the evening.
Tickets may be purchased at First American Bank, Family Pharmacy, or at the barbecue.

A free kids race will be held after the 5K for kids ages 3 to 10.
Saturday will feature the Jewell Jubilee Parade beginning at 10 a.m through downtown.
