JEWELL - Walking to the fifth tee box at 2-over par yesterday afternoon, South Hamilton's Trevor Ullestad probably wasn't thinking about shooting under par.
At that point, he just wanted to right the ship.
Ullestad found his swing down the stretch and birdied four of his final five holes to get into the red and win the medalist honor by four shots at the Jewell Golf and Country Club. His 2-under par 34 propelled the fifth-ranked (Class 2A) Hawks to a team total of 153 and a triangular victory over Fort Dodge St. Edmond (158) and Heart of Iowa Conference foe Saydel (208).
"Trevor bogeyed the par 3s (Nos. 2 and 4), but he scored well coming in," South Hamilton head coach and proud dad Mark Ullestad said. "Our low (at home) last year was a 152, so a 153 is a really good score for us. I'm happy with that."
South Hamilton's Braxton Risetter, and St. Edmond's Eddie Doyle and Michael Faiferlick shared the runner-up spot; all three shot a 38. Risetter was even par through eight holes, but double-bogeyed the ninth.
