Dance the night away

Father/Daughter dance to be held Saturday at fairgrounds

March 8, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

The Dance Connection boosters will host a Father and Daughter dance this Saturday in the Van Diest Building at the Hamilton County Fairgrounds. The event goes from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Booster Stacy Geopfert said the dance also welcomes stepdads, grandpas, uncles or other special family members to bring girls in preschool through sixth grade to the dance. Music, dances lead by competition dancers from The Dance Connection and refreshments, such as cookies and lemonade, will be available. There will also be a photographer at the dance who will provide photos at a fee.

Booster Michelle Lovelace said the event was organized to help fund traveling and entry fees for dancers to attend competitions. She said she researched the idea and saw that other towns had success with hosting similar events.

"I kind of just thought it would be something that would be a neat thing to do to give girls and their dads an experience of something that we've never had in Webster City," Lovelace said. "Usually, when we hold a fundraiser like this, it's something that people want anyway."

The registration date of Feb. 22 has passed, but families can still pay $25 at the door, no matter how many daughters they bring along. For more information, contact Stacy Geopfert at 297-1944.
