Staving off hunger one meal at a time

Kids Against Hunger in its eighth year in Webster City

March 6, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

Main Street Morning Kiwanis Club had its first Kids Against Hunger packaging session of 2013 on March 3.

The volunteers doing the packaging were from Faith United Methodist Church. During the session, 3,240 meals were packaged at the cost of about 25 cents per meal. That cost includes both the food and the delivery. Since the inception of the Kids Against Hunger program here in Webster City eight years ago, more than 235,000 meals have been packaged and delivered to several areas around the world including the United States and our own local UDMO and school backpack programs.

Representatives of Faith United Methodist Church presented the Kiwanis Club with a $100 donation toward the program.

This program has been possible due of the generosity of the community in donating both time and funds, according to John Zahn who has helped coordinate the program. Donations are welcome and may be sent to: Kids Against Hunger, P.O. Box 357 here in Webster City or by may be directly deposited the Kids Against Hunger account set up at Webster City Federal Bank.
