WCHS girls fight back in fourth quarter in loss to Clear Lake

January 16, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

CLEAR LAKE - Trailing by as many as 29 points at one point in the third quarter, the Webster City girls' basketball team made a late-game stand to make things somewhat interesting here last night.

The Lynx closed to within 15 points midway through the fourth quarter before Clear Lake pulled away for a 49-30 North Central Conference victory.

It was a step in the right direction though considering the Lions (9-3, 8-2 NCC) handed the Lynx a 53-12 beating when the two teams met last month.

"I'm very proud of the girls," WCHS head coach Nicole Muhlenbruch said. "There were so many good things that happened. We're still turning the ball over, but the girls looked more confident out there."

Hannah Myers produced a double-double - 11 points and 10 rebounds - for the Lynx (2-11, 2-9 NCC) in the loss. Cambria Hoffmann and Erin Anderson both had four points.

Clear Lake received 13 points from Logan Anderson and seven from both Kristen Hewett and Trudy Peterson.
