JEWELL - A month's worth of frustrations and disappointments have finally disappeared from the locker room of the South Hamilton girls' basketball team.

Thank you, Belmond-Klemme.

Facing an inexperienced Broncos team comprised of all freshmen and sophomores, the Hawks jumped ahead early and never pulled off the accelerator in a 45-25 victory on Coach Jim Marsh Court Saturday evening.

South Hamilton’s Hailey Stolt (34) throws up a shot from long range over Belmond-Klemme’s Josie Trager (23) and Logan Elkin on Saturday in Jewell. Stolt scored two points in the Hawks’ 45-25 non-conference victory.

It was the first win for South Hamilton (2-11) since a 48-36 victory over Colfax-Mingo on Dec. 7, and ended a seven-game skid.

"The girls were just determined to go out and get one," South Hamilton head coach Kathi Fisher said. "We knew this was one where we had the potential to win ... the girls played hard, but they still played relaxed at the same time."

The Hawks committed just 12 turnovers and received scoring contributions from seven players.
