Trojets hit all-time offensive low in loss to ISC rival Don Bosco

January 7, 2013
The Daily Freeman Journal

BLAIRSBURG - There are poor shooting nights, and then there's what the Northeast Hamilton girls' basketball team experienced here Friday night during a 38-22 Iowa Star Conference loss to Don Bosco.

The Trojets connected on just 13 percent of their field goal attempts (7 of 52), including an almost unimaginable 1 of 28 (3 percent) from inside the 3-point arc. Their only salvage was a 6 of 24 (25 percent) effort from beyond the arc.

"We didn't force a single shot and we were wide open all night, but we just couldn't make anything," NEH head coach Brett Schutt said. "We came out and executed everything we wanted. We rebounded well, we defended well, but we just didn't shoot well."

NEH (2-7, 1-6 ISC) held a 38-31 edge on the glass and the hosts collected 19 offensive boards.

Don Bosco (7-3, 7-2 ISC) led 20-6 at the half and 31-12 after three quarters.

Sarah Elm knocked down four of the Trojets' six 3s and scored 12 points. Molly Greenfield added seven points and eight rebounds; Jennifer Jeffers finished with three points and 11 boards.
