WILLIAMS?- Williams native Karen Hoelscher Johnson returned to her hometown Monday night to sign copies of her first novel, "Lancaster Rose".
The romantic novel is set in the 1800s and based on the lives of people of a small town near Keokuk, Iowa.
"There is a small town there with a two story school house," said Johnson, describing the setting.
Author and Williams native Karen Hoelscher Johnson signed copies of her first novel 'Lancaster Rose' at the Williams Library Monday night. Johnson signed several copies of her novel for her brother and sister-in-law Mark and Margaret Hoelscher.
The book was published by Tate Publishing, said Johnson. In researching possible publishers, Johnson found that less than four percent of submitted manuscripts are accepted, so she was delighted when she received notification that her book was to be published.
The book will be released for publication on today through Barnes and Noble, said Johnson, who is currently working on a second novel.
