The children and the residents continue to change, but the Moms and Tots group is celebrating their 5th year of coming monthly to Southfield Wellness Community to interact with residents. In May of 2007, Meredith Bargfrede contacted Southfield Marketing Coordinator Marilyn Middleton about the possibility of a group of mothers coming to Southfield so their children could develop a better relationship with older grandpa and grandmas. The group has grown from about 12 to over 20 on some mornings. The moms and children meet at Fuller Hall to make a craft before coming to Southfield. Those crafts become gifts for the residents and are often on display for all guests to enjoy. This month they decorated pumpkins. Middleton said the children create many smiles and memories for the residents as they interact with games and toys. As the children get older and enter school, new moms and tots join the group.
