The Daily Freeman Journal
A drug impairment training for educational professionals was held Tuesday and Wednesday at The Bridge in Webster City, sponsored by the Power Up YOUth Coalition. Above, Trooper Scott Devereaux, Fort Dodge, and Officer Al Ludeking, Decorah Police Department, demonstrate detection techniques for the participants. Officials said the purpose of the training was to help educators evaluate a student who is suspected of abusing drugs or alcohol. The training included a discussion of the seven categories of drugs and their effects, and completing an assessment to determine possible drug impairment. Participants attended from Iowa Falls, Marshalltown, Hampton-Dumont schools, East Sac school district, Fort Dodge, Webster City, Carroll and South Central Calhoun schools.
