County GOP dinner set for Saturday

Simon Conway, conservative radio host, to be guest speaker

The Hamilton County Republicans will hold their annual Chili Supper and Auction on Saturday at the Ed Prince Building on the Hamilton County Fairgrounds.

Simon Conway of WHO Radio, a conservative talk show host, is the keynote speaker. He is the afternoon drive host of News Radio 1040 WHO-AM in Des Moines.

A naturalized citizen of the United States, Conway was born in London, England, where he said his conservative beliefs were forged after experiencing the downsides of European-style socialism.

He began his professional career as a 16-year-old journalist at the Jerusalem Post in 1976.

Guests on his radio program have included most of the GOP candidates for the 2012 presidential election, including former House speaker Newt Gingrich, Texas Gov. Rick Perry, Rep. Ron Paul, Rep. Michele Bachmann, Atlanta businessman Herman Cain and former Sen. Rick Santorum.

Others expected to attend Saturday night are U.S. Rep. Steve King, State Auditor David Vaudt, Sen. Jerry Behn and Sen. Rob Bacon, as well as local candidates.

Serving begins at 5:30 p.m. and the cost is a Free will offering.

An auction will be held following the speakers. Items include baked goods and miscellaneous Republican items. Also on the auction is a hand made queen sized quilt.

The public is invited and families are most welcome to come and share a fun filled
