A grass fire ignited 30 to 40 acres of land on Wednesday night in the 1600 block of 170th Street near Woolstock. Woolstock Fire Chief Ethan Anderson said that his department was paged at approximately 9 p.m., but said that the fire may have been going on for awhile. Woolstock fire officials called Webster City for mutual aid. Six Woolstock Fire personnel responded to the call, and a total of eight Webster City firefighters responded to the fire. Anderson said that the fire was extinguished and crews were back to the stations by 10:30 p.m. He said that the cause of the fire was still unknown but that dry conditions likely contributed to the cause.
