Oliver Baxter, 83, died on Friday April 6, 2012 at his home in Webster City. The memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday April 11, 2012 at the Gunderson Funeral Chapel. Visitation will be held from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. prior to the service. Burial of his cremated remains will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Mount Olivet Cemetery, Waukon, IA. Arrangements have been entrusted with Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Oliver is survived by two sisters, Dorothy Keeffe of White Water, WI and Charlotte Schwartshoff of Milwaukee, WI along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Winifred; brothers Kenneth, Charles, Jack and Donald and his sister Helen Wiltgen.
Oliver was born in Waukon, IA on April 11, 1928 to Frank and Winifred (Regan) Baxter. He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952 serving as a communication specialist in Germany. He later owned and operated "The Hub" men's clothing store in Webster City with his brother Chuck, until his retirement in 1976. He was an avid reader and also enjoyed watching the river from his picture window at his home in rural Webster City.
