BLAIRSBURG?- The Northeast Hamilton High School cheerleaders will be conducting a recyclable can drive fundraiser on Labor Day beginning at 10 a.m., according to cheer sponsor Leslie Keehn.
Residents of Williams, Blairsburg, Kamrar and surrounding areas are encouraged to leave cans in bags at the curb on that day.
Cans can also be dropped off at the NEH student parking lot on Labor Day, said Keehn.

The NEH cheerleaders taking part in the can drive are front row from left, Kaleigh Greufe, Sadie McGowan and Hillary Hollingshead; back row, Lydia Winkler, Andrea Unger, cheerleader sponsor Leslie Keehn, Tabrina Eggleston, Amanda Bosch and Chambre Wisdom.
The cheer squad will use the funds to purchase new poms, a stereo CD player and to finance camps, said Keehn.
Keehn said the squad plans to send a school representative to the Honor Squad which cheers during the state high school play-offs. In addition, the group hopes to attend the all-state competition.
"We want to raise funds so we don't have to ask the Spirit Club for funding," said Keehn. In the past, cheerleaders have had to request funding or cover costs themselves.
The cheer squad will also be removing the tabs from can lids to donate
to the Latimer Fire District.
"Each tab represents one minute (of care) in a burn unit for burn victims," explained Keehn.
