Summer in July with the Chamber

July is a great time to live and work in Webster City! It’s even busier than June was and we had a great time at Summer Nights in June. New members in the last couple of weeks are Prime Life LLC, 15 Below Photo and Phusion. That makes 31 new members this year! We’re happy to be supporting small business in Webster City and it’s a real pleasure to work with new and old members.

July is going to be just a bit crazy and we’re ready for it. Firecracker 5k on the 4th of July kicks off the month in grand fashion. BASE Fitness classes are in full swing. Legacy Learning BRV has some fun classes. Settlers Day at Bell’s Mill on the July 5 shares a trip back through history. Stony Creek is teaching us how to make hedgehogs. “Guys and Dolls” bring live entertainment and plenty of laughs at the Webster City Community Theatre, along with Camp Creamery for the kids at the end of the month.

Learn about Iowa History in a Cloth Bag at Wilson Brewer Park. There’s something to do just about every day at the Kendall Young Library. Races are happening on the weekends. The County Fair comes to town with the parade on the 22 and fair the rest of the week.

And on July 19, we hope that you will join us downtown on Second Street between Des Moines and Seneca. We will have the street blocked off all day. Crazy Day starts at 7:30 a.m. and the stores will be out on the sidewalks and in the streets having all kinds of sales – it’s crazy! At 9 a.m. the Crazy Day Car Show begins and you’ll be able to see vintage cars parked down the middle of the street for two blocks. Awards are given at 3 p.m. and we take a one hour break to set up for Summer Nights.

This month’s theme is Agriculture and we’re bringing the country into the city. Woolstock Equipment will be parking large equipment smack dab in the middle of the street (we’re waiting to hear from two other equipment people also). There will be a petting zoo for the kids. The FFA will be selling pork burgers, chips and a soda. Bill Robb and CPR will be playing in First American Bank Plaza from 2 pm to 6 pm. There will be cookbook giveaways, dvd’s shown at the Webster Theater, games and fun for the kids, plenty of vendors showcasing ag related items and more.

Keep checking on our website at www.visitwebstercityiowa.com for all the details – we will post them as we know them.

There’s plenty to do in Webster City – and we hope to see you enjoying these many events and activities.
