HERO to again operate Angel Tree

To the Editor:

HERO, Help Entertain and Restore Organization, is once again operating the Angel Tree for Hamilton County. This is our third year of doing so. After we set up the Christmas tree in the lobby of the Webster Theater, tags with information regarding the sex, age, clothing and shoe sizes and toy requests will be hung from the tree for citizens to take and shop for. This project has been incredibly successful over the years as our citizens are very generous, indeed. However, there are usually a few tags that are no taken, or perhaps a few children who could use a little more, so HERO members go shopping for those children with cash that is donated.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank seven area businesses who donated 10 percent of their sales on Oct. 20 during the Give Back Open House at inTandem Workspace. The businesses that participated are Ted’s Car Wash (Karla Neese), Scentsy (Katie O’Hanlon), Close to My Heart Scrapbooking (Louis Hauck-Chin), Tupperware (Katie Tolle), Mary Kay (Laura Brockett), Chloe + Isabel and inTandem Workspace (Darcy Swon), and LulaRoe (Alisha Steburg). It is through the generosity of people like these women that we are able to make Christmas a little more special for Hamilton County children in need.

The Angel Tree will be up and ready for everyone to select tags on Nov. 14 in the lobby of the Webster Theater. We would like to remind those who take tags to please register your name next to the corresponding number in the registry book. Please return your packages – unwrapped – to the theater or the Webster City Fire Station no later than Dec. 3. so that we have time to get the packages ready for pick-up by the families on Dec. 11.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, the board of HERO would like to thank our fellow citizens for their continued patronage and loyalty to the theater as well as their generosity to both the theater and area families in need. We couldn’t be prouder of our friends and neighbors and wouldn’t want to live anywhere else. Thank you, Webster City.
