Another successful Relay

To the Editor:

Big Shout Out to Hamilton County. The 2016 Hamilton County Relay for Life was a great success.

This year’s event was held at West Twin Park on Thursday evening, June 16 and the Relay committee would like to thank our community for attending the festivities.

Hundreds of folks came out to the park to cheer on our cancer survivors, play the games, enjoy some food, listen to the music and walk a few laps on the track. It was a beautiful night to play a game of croquet, jump in the bounce house, get your face painted or just sit in the lawn chairs and visit a while.

More than 90 luminaries lit up the sidewalks at the close of our Relay event as we paused to honor our survivors and remember those who lost their fight with cancer. Thank you to Pat Powers for reading the memorials and honoriums.

Our Relay event would not have been possible without the help of several local businesses and organizations. This year’s event included a free dinner for our Survivors and their guest. Thank you to the WCFD for the use of the air conditioned building for our cancer survivors to relax and enjoy their meal and Boman Funeral Home and Southfield Wellness Community for serving the meal.

Big thank you to Jerrad at J.A.M.M. for donating his services and providing the great music for the night. Thank you to the American Legion Post 191 for the presentation of the flags, Pastor Craig for opening the night with prayer and Gianna Borer for singing the National Anthem. The Webster City employees did a fine job of making sure the grounds were ready, blocking off our street for the walking track and bringing in extra picnic tables. Thanks to Mornin’ Glory and Cloud 9 Cotton Candy for the great treats and for donating 100 percent of the proceeds from their sales.

Our corporate sponsors include Van Diest Medical Center, Edward Jones/Tim Finucan, Wayne & Marlene Anderson, Innovative Ag Services, Best Veterinary Solutions, Peterson Construction, First State Bank/Town & Country Insurance, Ellsworth Coop Telephone Assn., WC Financial and Fareway of Webster City.

Finally, in closing, thank you to the teams who worked hard to raise money, thank you to all the volunteers who pitched in to make the night a success and thank you Hamilton County for coming out to Celebrate! Remember! And Fight Back!

Committee members, Joyce Gelhaus, Marsha Halbach and Pat Nokes
