More than $700 raised for WC Senior and Community Center

To the Editor:

Thank you to all the folks who joined us on Nov. 2 to dance and enjoy the music of Webster City’s own Al Welsh Orchestra. We had people attend from all over the area, and the feedback was extremely positive. We raised just over $700 for the Webster City Senior and Community Center, and have invited the Orchestra to return the second Saturday in November 2014.

Special thanks to Mark Glascock, Larry Flaws and Kent Harfst who donated their time and energy in getting the stage put together, setting up the Fuller Hall gym with tables, chairs, popping corn, assisting guests to the elevator and cleaning up. Thanks to JoAnn Pohlman, for personally selling the most tickets, Mark Gillette for his assistance in avoiding a last minute ‘mini crisis’ and Pat Powers for emceeing the event. We couldn’t have done it without everyone.

The committee is planning a homemade soup luncheon on Sunday, Jan. 19 at the Senior and Community center. Plans are currently for chili, potato or Cheesy Potato and Ham & Bean soups. The requests for Chicken noodle are being considered, but not promised.

This is just one more example of what we can accomplish, as a community, when we all pull together. Please don’t hesitate to join in the fun, everyone is always welcome. Hope to see you all on Jan. 19.
