Jewell to host Relay for Life

To the Editor:

For many years the Webster City community has hosted the annual Hamilton County Relay For Life (RFL). The event is sponsored by the American Cancer Society. This year the RFL committee has extended an invitation to Southern Hamilton Communities to host the event in Jewell quite appropriately at the Mike Penning Athletic Complex and Bill Taylor Field at South Hamilton School. Communities from all over Hamilton County have accepted the challenge to support this worthy event.

There will be great food cooked by “god fearin’ guys and gals” and lots of fun with a carnival like atmosphere along with, of course, walking or running laps to support cancer survivors, their caregivers and help in the fight against cancer. It is fun, reverent, happy and respectful. At 10 p.m. luminaires will line the track in memory or in honor of those touched by cancer. The event will conclude with fireworks. Everyone is welcome to attend, admission is free. Great food available at nominal prices. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m. The auction begins at 7 p.m. for baked goods, lots of great value items including ISU football tickets.

Money from Relays For Life like this one have saved lives in this community and now it’s our turn to give back.

Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a fun evening while supporting a great cause. Looking forward to seeing you there.
