BERNADINE BOTTORFF

Bernadine Bottorff, 85, of Webster City died Friday, November 5, 2021 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, November 12, 2021 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Visitation will be Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bernadine Bertha Melohn, daughter of Kenneth and Bertha Morwitzer Melohn, was born February 19, 1936 in Fort Dodge. She graduated from Jolley High School and received her teacher’s certificate from Buena Vista University. She taught elementary school in Lohrville and Gowrie for six years. On June 16, 1963, Bernadine was united in marriage to Roger Roy Bottorff at the Methodist church in Jolley. The couple resided in Webster City. Bernadine worked for Thompson Pharmacy (Thrifty White) for 25 years.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Roger of Webster City; son, Dennis (Theresa Bullock) Bottorff of Lehigh; daughter, Michelle Zahn of Webster City; grandsons, Garrett, Jacob, Cal and Cole; brothers, Donald (Connie) Melohn of Fort Dodge, Dennis (Sharon) Melohn of Jolley and many nieces, nephews and extended family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Esther Melohn.

Bernadine was an active member of Asbury United Methodist Church involved in many church activities. She volunteered for the Hamilton Hospital Auxiliary, was a cub scout leader, and helped with the PTA. Bernadine’s greatest joy was watching her grandchildren play sports and growing in their individual talents. She remembered with great affection each of the children that she taught during her years as a teacher, and always held those memories dear.
