Ross Nissen, 96, of Webster City died Saturday, October 16, 2021 at Southfield Wellness Community. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. Inurnment will follow at the Blairsburg Cemetery. Due to COVID and being indoors, the family has requested those in attendance please wear a face mask.

Ross Monroe Nissen, son of Irvin and Minnie (Kolb) Nissen, was born October 20 ,1924 in Meservey, Iowa. He attended Kamrar schools and graduated from Meservey High in 1942. Ross served in the United States Navy from 1943 – 1945. He was united in marriage to Jean McComb on November 20, 1949 in Blairsburg. To this union, David and Sharon were born. They moved to Blairsburg in 1958. Ross owned and operated the corner gas station in Blairsburg and grocery store. He also worked many years as a relocation agent for the Department of Transportation. Jean died in 1997. On October 20, 1998, Ross married Dorothy Holmquist in Webster City. Dorothy died in 2018.

He is survived by his son, David (Faye) Nissen of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Sharon (Tim) Keane of Manhattan, KS; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ross was preceded in death by his wives, Jean and Dorothy; granddaughter, Rachel Nissen; siblings, Betty, Emery, Arlene, Ardell, and Irvin.

He was a member of the Blairsburg United Church of Christ, a 58-year member of the Williams American Legion and a charter member of the Blairsburg Lions Club.
