Dolores Helen Schaa of Webster City passed away peacefully of natural causes onJune 18, 2021 at Southfield Wellness Community. Visitation will be held 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, June 20, 2021 at Foster Funeral and Cremation Center. A private burial will be held at Graceland Cemetery.She was born on October 13, 1930 to William and Harriet (Carmer) Bowden on a farm near Lamont, IA. The family moved to a farm near Gilmore City in 1945. Dolores graduated from Gilmore City High School in 1948. On November 26, 1948, Dolores married Seymour Schaa of Kamrar at the United Methodist Church in Humboldt. The family lived and farmed near Kamrar and briefly near Murray until Seymour retired from farming in 1975; they returned to Webster City in 1976. Dolores and Seymour lived in Phoenix from April 1997 until September 2000. She worked for fifteenyears in ASCS offices in Hamilton and Clark counties. In 1976 she joined First State Bank of Webster City, was promoted to the position of CD and Savings Officer and retired in 1995. For many years Dolores was responsible for organizing and supervising the “Prestige Club”tours for First State Bank customers. In addition, she was an active member of the Business and Professional Women organization for thirty years, rising to become President for the state of Iowa in 1989-1990.Dolores was very active at the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in Blairsburg. She was a Sunday School teacher for high school girls for many years, organized many creative Christmas programs and was responsible for conducting numerous Mother-Daughter Teas. Dolores taught her children to be loving, patient and kind by caring extensively for her mother-in-law Dena and her sister-in-law Iona.Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Seymour in 2002; by her parents; and by her brothers,James and Richard Bowden.Dolores is survived by her children Constance (Tim) Cabelka of Midland, MI, Diane Jackson of Spencer, IA, and Douglas (Lisa) Schaa of Webster City; her granddaughters,Carrie Cabelka of Washington, DC and Meredith Cabelka (Latif) Bakhshi of Austin, TX, Holly Jackson of Spencer, IA, Taylor Schaa (Michael) Wilmoth of La Crescent, MNand Madison Schaa (Ifeanyi) Onwuka of Roswell, GA; andher great-granddaughters Lucille, Georgia and Harriet Wilmoth.
