Robert Peter, 84, of Stanhope died Monday, March 30, 2020 at his home. Due to the state and federal guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the family will be having a private memorial at a later date. Foster Funeral and Cremation Center is entrusted with the services.
Robert Gene Peter, son of Walter and Frances Olsen Peter, was born February 23, 1936 in Algona. He graduated from Stanhope Consolidated School in 1955. He served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea after the Korean Conflict. On August 22, 1976 he was united in marriage to Miriam Gaynell Vespested in Jewell. Robert farmed with his Dad and brother, Roger, north of Jewell and Stanhope until his retirement. He also drove truck for many years. The couple moved to Stanhope in 1996.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Miriam; sister-in-law, Faye Arends of Gilbert and niece, Diane (Wayde) Klingbeil of Gilbert.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Helen Peter and brother-in-law, Rodney Arends.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Webster City.
