Monte Q. Westrum, was born in Boone, Iowa on September 16, 1956, the son of Noel and Wilma (Anderson) Westrum. He graduated from Stratford High School in 1974. Monte founded Quick Utility Services, a computerized water leak detection business, where he worked until his death.

Monte enjoyed traveling, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He was an avid reader. Areas that intrigued his inquisitive mind were history and the financial market. When Monte was not working or day trading or teasing his nieces and nephews (i.e. challenging his nephew, Aaron, an English teacher, on Shakespeare), he enjoyed spending time with family, friends, and his cat, Tubbs.

He is preceded in death by his uncles, Dean Anderson, Leo Wisecup, Darrell “Pete” Anderson and Dick Westrum; an aunt, Sylvia Eyman. Monte is survived by his parents, Noel and Wilma Westrum of Stratford; a brother, Troy Westrum and wife, Teresa of Stratford; two sisters, Joy (Westrum) Seitz and husband, Bill of Cyprus, Texas, and Robin Westrum of Waukee; nieces and nephews, Aaron Westrum, Charles Seitz, Whitney Westrum, James Seitz, Jordyn (Seitz) Brown and husband, Waylon, and Brent Seitz; aunts and uncles, Stanley and Stephanie (Westrum) Quick, Doyle Eyman, Tim and Pam Westrum, Sharon (Anderson) Wisecup, Jacque Anderson, and Marvalene Anderson; and Tubbs, his beloved cat.
