Here are some quick numbers on the Boone River Cleanup
There are 900 pounds of scrap metal no longer in the Boone River, thanks to the Boone River Cleanup last weekend.
Generally, there are about 400 pounds of trash the 17 volunteers hauled from the river, along with 63 tires.
From 2007 to 2023, more than 28 miles of the river have been cleaned up by volunteers, in some areas multiple times. In that span of years, 816 tires have been removed from the river, 7.85 tons of scrap metal, and 3.5 tons of general trash.
That’s a lot of volunteer effort.
