No changes to mitigation efforts

Supervisors say masks still required in all county buildings

Officials with Hamilton County said Tuesday morning that there will be no changes to COVID-19 mitigation protocols even though the governor has eased certain restrictions and the mask mandate.

Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation on Friday which removed gathering limits and restrictions on businesses, as well as removing the mask requirement. The proclamation went into effect Sunday at 12:01 a.m.

Dan Campidilli, chairman of the Board of Supervisors, announced at a meeting of the board that the county will continue to require masks for anyone entering county buildings.

“My personal opinion, she was a little premature with that decision. I can see that a little further down the line when people are outside,” Campidilli said. “I don’t know why you make that decision when it’s 10 below zero and people are holed up inside.”

He said the county would continue to monitor conditions and COVID-19 numbers.

Kendall Young Library

Ketta Lubberstedt-Arjes, Kendall Young Library director, said the library will also continue with all of the established mitigation efforts.

“Masks will still be required in the building,” she said. Social distancing is also required.

Currently, the library allows 15 patrons into the building at a time and appointments are required with a 30 minute time limit. All children under age 14 must be accompanied by an adult. All study areas are closed and furniture has been removed, but limited computer use is available for 30 minute periods.

Lubberstedt-Arjes said curbside pickup is still strongly suggested. To arrange curbside pickup or to make an appointment to visit the library, call 832-9101.

City of Webster City

Beth Chelsevig, administrative services director and a member of the interim management team for the City of Webster City, said the city would be continuing the current mitigation protocols for the time being. Masks will still be required and access to city hall is by appointment, she said
