Bacon likely to win another term

Results from three of four counties have him in the lead

Incumbent State Representative Robert Bacon appeared to be on his way to winning another term of office Tuesday night at press time.

Bacon, a Republican from Slater, was challenged by Democrat Jack Friend, in the House District 48 race. With results from Hamilton, Webster and Boone counties, Bacon had received 8,106 votes or 63.58 percent of the tallied votes, with Friend garnering 4,628 votes or 36 percent. Results for the race from Story County were not available at press time.

Bacon was elected in 2012 to the District 48 seat which includes Boone, Story, Hamilton and Webster counties. Prior to that, he was elected in 2010 to represent state Senate District 5 which includes Wright Hamilton and Story counties.
