“We will do our best to provide a clean and welcoming environment for people of all ages, while at the same time following social distancing and mitigation practices,” said Library Director Ketta Lubberstedt-Arjes.

The changes are currently in effect, she said, but are subject to change based on the current COVID-19 restrictions.

The library will be open reduced hours as follows: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Patrons entering the building will be required to wear a face mask and to use hand sanitizer. Those visiting the library must maintain a distance of six-feet between patrons and staff. Individuals who experience any of the following symptoms are asked to refrain from library services: fever of 100 degrees or more, chronic coughing and/or sneezing, shortness of breath and any other flu-like symptoms.

 Book and material returns will be made via the book return located just outside the main doors of the library.

Those wishing to use the library must schedule an appointment. Lubberstedt-Arjes said just 15 patrons are allowed to be in the building at one time. Patrons will be allowed 30 minutes or less in the building.

“We encourage all patrons to make their visit as brief as possible and to only visit the library to check out materials or use computers as necessary,” she said. Patrons will be allowed one visit per day.

A limited number of computers will be available for public use. Patrons will be limited to 25 minutes usage and will be required to sanitize the computer equipment after use.

Not all library services will be available at this time. The meeting room, study rooms, play spaces and toys are still closed to the public.

Children age 14 and younger must be accompanied by and in the presence of a responsible adult at all times, according to Lubberstedt-Arjes.

She said patrons are encouraged to call ahead to reserve items when they make their appointment. The materials will then be ready when the patron arrives. Curbside pickup is still strongly encouraged, Lubberstedt-Arjes said.

All returned materials should be returned to the outside Drop Box.
