Webster City High School has canceled prom for spring 2020. School administration had tentatively rescheduled the event for Saturday, June 13 in hopes that an in-person prom would be possible by that date.

However, even with Gov. Kim Reynolds at-home requirements, it became apparent that there would be no way to enforce social distancing at this type of event.

“Unfortunately, and after carefully examining the situation and reviewing guidance from the State of Iowa, Hamilton County Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control, we now must cancel prom this year,” said Dan Johnson WCHS principal. “We know that this news will cause a great deal of disappointment. Please know we have made this difficult decision to protect the health and safety of our students, family and staff.”
