Cruisin’ South Car,Tractor Show to kick off Assisted Living Week
Annual car show at Southfield Wellness Community returns Sunday
Southfield Wellness Community, owned and operated by ABCM Corporation, will hold its18th Annual Cruisin’ South Car & Tractor Show on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 3 p.m. in their parking lot at 2414 Des Moines St., Webster City. The event is being held in honor of National Assisted Living Week, Sept. 8-14.
Last year, nearly 100 vehicles and around 300 people attended the free event. Individuals will vote for their favorite vintage and late model cars and tractors with trophies given for “People’s Choice” and “Driver’s Choice” awards. Special 50s and 60s tunes will be spinning, plus this year Live Entertainment will be provided by the Bare Bones Trio.
Anyone interested in displaying a car or tractor is asked to contact John Boughton at 832-3881 or jboughton@abcmcorp.com. Dash plates will be given to the first 100 drivers. There is no charge to register a vehicle or to attend the event. Drivers and a guest receive free lunch before the event.
Southfield’s famous bars, slushies, popcorn, and lemonade will be served with tours available at Southfield’s Independent & Assisted Living Apartments. The theme for National Assisted Living Week is “A Spark of Creativity.” Tenants will celebrate by participating in a variety of activities. On Wednesday evening, Sept. 11, Southfield Assisted Living tenants will be going to the Produce Station Pottery to make pottery with Maureen Seamonds. A trip to Center Grove Orchards is also planned and everyone is invited to an educational program at the Southfield Assisted Living Apartments explaining the differences in care and services at the Southfield Wellness Community Assisted Living Apartments and Care Center.
