2019 Assessments are coming

The Hamilton County Assessor’s Office will mail assessment notices to all Hamilton County property owners on April 1, 2019 informing them of the January 1, 2019 assessment.

The 2019 assessment contained in the notification is the gross assessment and will include qualifying exemptions and abatements computed by the Hamilton County Assessor’s Office. It does not include the state designated rollbacks, homestead, military and business property tax credits or exemptions calculated and applied by the Hamilton County Auditor’s office.

The 2019 assessment is the basis of property taxes payable September, 2020 and March, 2021.

To review assessment information please visit the Assessor’s website at hamilton.iowaassessors.com. The website will be updated with the 2019 assessment information on Monday.

The Hamilton County Assessor’s Office will conduct an informal appeal and review period from Tuesday April 2, 2019 through Thursday, April 25, 2019. Any property owner who wishes to discuss or challenge the 2019 assessment may contact the Assessor’s Office at 832-9505 to set up an appointment with a staff member. We highly recommend property owners contact our office as soon as possible to ensure timely processing of requests.

Petitions to the Board of Review may be obtained from the Assessor’s Office at the courthouse or they may also contact the Assessor’s Office at assessor@hamiltoncounty.org or 515-832-9505 to receive a petition form by email or mail.

Since Hamilton County was named in the recently declared Federal Disaster Area, the deadline for appeal to the Board of Review is Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
