Kwik Star to open for business Jan. 10 at 5 a.m.

A new Webster City business is set to open bright and early the morning of Jan. 10.

Kwik Star, located at 505 Fair Meadow Dr., will welcome customers starting next Thursday as they open the doors for business beginning at 5 a.m.

Headquartered in LaCrosse, Wis., Kwik Trip/Kwik Star is a chain of convenience stores founded in 1965 with locations throughout Wisconsin and Minnesota under the name Kwik Trip, and in Iowa under the name Kwik Star. A Kwik Trip, a Kwik Trip Express and a Kwik Star have opened in Fort Dodge in the past year.

Crews are putting the finishing touches on the new building. Area residents have watched the construction progress over the past few months.

A ribbon cutting and open house are planned for Wednesday, Jan. 16. The open house will run from 10 a.m. to noon, with the ribbon to be cut at 11 a.m. Many of the Kwik Trip leadership team will be on hand for the event.

“We look forward to meeting the community,” said Steve Wrobel, a spokesman for Kwik Trip/Kwik Star. “It’s our mission to serve the community and we always appreciate when customers bring us their business.”

He said the business fits the model of the “corner grocery store,” with grocery products, ready-to-eat foods and traditional convenience items.

Wrobel said Kwik Star typically staffs about 30 to 35 crew members, about one-third of which are full-time workers and two-thirds part-time.

“The jobs fit many different demographics — from people who are attending school to those who are semi-retired,” he said.

Webster City residents received a flyer in the mail this week announcing the opening and listing several of the grand opening specials.
