POCAHONTAS — A pair of Fort Dodge men are facing charges in two counties after two separate incidents this month.

Investigators in both counties identified the men as Lucas W. Osborne, 28, and Michael Graves, 25.

The pair, along with Jeffry Whyte, 51, of Fort Dodge, were arrested Friday in Pocahontas for trying to burglarize a car wash, according to Pocahontas Police Chief Al Hinrickson.

All three were charged with attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools.

Graves was also charged with possession of methamphetamine.

Hinrickson said that after the arrest on Friday morning a subsequent investigation determined that Osborne and Graves may have been involved in the April 8 robbery of the Kum & Go in Humboldt.

As a result of the investigation, Humboldt County Sheriff Dean Kruger said Osborne and Graves were both charged with second-degree robbery and fourth-degree theft.

According to Kruger, the store was struck at about 6:30 a.m. A single clerk was in the store, but Kruger said the clerk wasn’t hurt, and no weapons were displayed.

An undetermined amount of cash was taken.

Hinrickson said Graves was sent back to Humboldt County, where he remains held in the Humboldt County Jail on $11,000 cash bond.

Osborne remains in the Pocahontas County Jail on his Humboldt County warrants. His bond has also been set at $11,000 cash.

Whyte is being held in the Pocahontas County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.

Graves’ preliminary hearing in Humboldt County has been set for April 24.

The Humboldt Police Department and Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Department also assisted in the investigation.
