The three candidates for the Webster City School superintendent position were announced Monday night following a closed session of the school board.

The candidates selected were: Dr. Jesse Ulrich, of AHSTW (Avoca, Hancock, Shelby, Tennant and Walnut) Schools; Dr. Amanda Ross, associate superintendent at Ames Community Schools and Ryan Bergeson, superintendent at Scotland County R-1 School District in Memphis, Mo. Ulrich will be interviewed Tuesday, March 20, while Ross will have her interview on Wednesday, March 21. Bergeson, who is a Webster City High School graduate, will interview Friday, March 23.

Ulrich is also a finalist the in the Carroll School District superintendent search.

Mike Billings and Lyle Schwartz with McPherson and Jacobson LLC, have been leading the search to find a replacement for Mike Sherwood, the current superintendent who will retire at the end of June.

Billings, the former Roland-Story superintendent, and Schwartz, the former superintendent at South Hamilton, began the process last month with meetings to establish criteria and qualifications, to gather input from stakeholder groups (administrators, teachers, students, parents and community members) and then to solicit applicants.

Twenty-seven completed applications for the position were received. The board met in closed session Monday to discuss the candidates and narrow the field. The board will likely make its final decision March 23 following the last interview.
