Oh, baby!

Two WC?couples deliver first babies of 2018

Two Webster City couples welcomed the first babies of the new year last week at two different area hospitals.

Little Brystol Reann Hay, daughter of Nathan and Jennifer Hay, arrived four days into the new year. She was born Thursday, Jan. 4, 2018 at Van Diest Medical Center. Brystol weighed 8 lbs., 4.5 oz. and 20 inches in length.

Her grandparents are Darrel and Kathleen Hay, and Lanette Smith all of Webster City and the late Michael “Chubby” Smith. Great-grandparents are Sheryl Lyons of Webster City, Beth Hay of Lehigh and Patti Dellachiesa of Lehigh.

As the first baby at VDMC, Brystol and her parents will take home several gifts from local merchants and organizations. R Company presented the family with a $40 gift certificate. Gilbert Jewelers will give the family an engraved charm with the baby’s initial and date of birth on back. A dozen roses were delivered from The Flower Cart and SAMS Photography provided the family with a gift certificate for a free photo session.

The Hospital Foundation gave a $100 cashiers check to the family and First State Bank gave a gift bag. The hospital OB department presented a Halo Sleep Sack and the hospital auxiliary provided the family with a calendar. Ames Quilt Guild gave a handmade blanket for the baby.

Ava Jae Anderson, daughter of Mikaela and Jesse Anderson of Webster City, was the first baby born in 2018 at Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion. She was born Jan. 2, 2018 and weighed 6 pounds, 2.1 ounces and was 19 inches long. According to her father she has dirty blond hair and blue eyes.

Grandparents are Mike and Mindee Pruismann, Webster City, and Jeff and Chris Anderson, Webster City. Great grandparents are Paul Pruismann, Webster City, and Carol Eich, Fort Dodge.

Ava is the first child for the Andersons.
