FORT DODGE – An upcoming Halloween event will give visitors a chance to explore the Fort Museum and Frontier Village like never before.

Called ”Lotts Revenge. Horror Awaits,” the event promises thrills and scares, according to organizers.

It will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Admission is $12 per person and $10 with student ID.

“The Haunted Museum Tour will offer some chilling old fashion scares that will take guests back in time to the pioneer days,” said Cheryl Sherry, the executive director of the Fort Museum and Frontier Village. ”The fun thing about it is that the tour is based on actual figures from Fort Dodge,”

Expect a jump at every turn during the terrifying tour.

There will be crazed church goers, Civil War widows and deceased soldiers in gloomy grave yards, creepy children of the corn, werewolves waiting to jump out at you, and a plague that has been affecting every settler in the town.

Henry Lott is the key to this awful plague that has been affecting the town.

Lott was one of the earliest settlers in the area. He was a man who William Williams, the founder of Fort Dodge, described as a vengeful person who sold whiskey, stole horses, and was a murderer.

He was also named one of the reasons for the March 1857 Spirit Lake Massacre. That was a bloody attack by Native Americans that happened after Lott and his stepson murdered the Wahpekute Dakota Chief Sidominadotah, his wife, and children.

If anyone stood up to him, he made them sorry.

“We really wanted to do something new and fun for the community to enjoy,” Sherry said. ”It is our mission and goal to have the history come alive and engage with the community so they know more about the history around the area.”

Call the Fort Museum and Frontier Village at 573-4231 to make your reservations and purchase tickets in advance or get tickets at the door.

Organizers said this event is solely for entertainment purposes and does not represent any culture, race, organization, group, origin, or religious organization, and is not intended to represent factual history.
